Visiting Philly for work, I wanted a medium-sized bottle of wine. When many local stores near Rittenhouse Square don't sell wine, this place does. There are aisles and aisles of wine and liquor in one large single room. Sadly, they only had full sized bottles. While I wandered it, many people came in and out. It's popular!

Same great place as always. Sometimes have nice deals & coupons, so check online before buying. Always go for the Liquor lottery for the rare stuff, and never be afraid to ask if they have any limited release or in-house picks for interesting bottles. They have an entire floor of stock downstairs the same size as the main display floor!

A friend and I visited this store to purchase a bottle of tequila around 8:50 PM yesterday (Wednesday April 4, 2023). We walked directly to the aisle where the tequila is located, as we are both quite familiar with the store layout, and then approached the register to pay. I was walking in front, and my friend (a Black male) was a few steps behind me with the bottle of tequila in his hand. As we neared the register, employee Kareem R. walked out from behind the registers and onto the sales floor. He looked at my friend while yelling, “You tried to put a bottle in your pants,” and then looked at me to complete his accusation, “…and you tried to block him!” My friend and I were entirely dumbfounded, staring at this employee in utter shock and confusion. I looked back at my friend, and the bottle of tequila we had picked out was indeed in his hand, as it had been the entire time. The few other customers in the store were staring at us, as Mr. Kareem R. had made his accusation quite loudly. The other employees and security staff looked on without comment. Mr. Kareem R. went on to demand that we place the bottle on the counter and leave the store, refusing to allow us to make a purchase despite the fact that we had done absolutely nothing wrong. If you are doubtful of this claim, I urge you to review the security footage from the time of our visit. I photographed Mr. Kareem R., who moved to hide his nametag from view; however, my friend had already taken mental note of his name. My friend and I were both extremely uncomfortable during and following this incident. I live in the neighborhood and typically visit this store about twice a week, but am now uncertain if I will feel safe entering the space going forward. I most certainly will not subject my friend to the experience again. Edited: I submitted an official complaint on the PA Wine & Spirits website at the same time I posted this review, two weeks ago. I indicated that I would like a response and have not yet been contacted.

I had a good experience being here my first time. I just moved to Philly a few months ago I haven’t been here long but people are mostly friendly in the places I’ve been to, this liquor shop included. I will say in the DM(V) you have easier access to alcohol/wine. This location has a wide variety of options. The person who was at the register was nice, greeted me with a smile, can’t ask for much more than that in this world.

Great selection that you’d expect from a wine a spirits even though the store is smaller than most. Everything in the store is clearly labeled so you can find what you need easily. Since it is a smaller store it does however get very crowded and you seem to wait in line for a long time even if there are only 4 people ahead of you since there is typically one clerk at checkout.
