Its trivial but sheds light on a bigger issue - fraud. I bought a Hershey's candy bar yesterday for $1.99 and they charged $.60 cents for "taxes and fees" (see receipt here). They are likely doing this with all of their products. I just researched it and most candy bars and other related food items in Sacramento should not be taxed. Also, credit card fees are usually a percentage of the cost of the item (on average not higher than around 3%) - very high for such a small purchase.

They sell expired products. The attached picture shows white wine purchased from the store and opened within a few hours. Although you might get poisoned, everything is also over priced. For example they charge $28 a bottle for Butter wine bottles that are $13-18 elsewhere.

This place has all the good snacks and drinks! I was downtown for an event and we went in for water and came out with candy, some of the best beefjerky, fancy sodas, and water. I met the new owner while in there and he was very nice, and provided excellent customer service. It looked really nice and clean inside too. You can tell they are working hard to make this a great little corner store with way more than just alcohol. I work near by and plan to make stops regularly for all the cool and yummy snacks.

My son and I happened to walk by this store, and he immediately spotted the ice cream freezer—great strategic placement, by the way! We popped in, and I was honestly blown away. The owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming. It’s hands down the nicest liquor store I’ve ever been in. I usually avoid liquor stores, but this one completely changed my perception. Clean, inviting, and such a positive vibe—definitely a hidden gem in Sacramento!

One of the few choices for beer and wine in the downtown area. There is a somewhat limited selection of craft beers, but they do have some local and regional items. Prices aren't low, but certainly cheaper than the hotel bars.
