My experience at this store was extremely disappointing. I spent more than an hour in the shop, and during that entire time the only interaction I had with the staff was when they told me the price of a bottle I had asked about. Other than that, I received no assistance, no guidance, and no sign of any interest in helping a customer who was clearly willing to buy. What was even more frustrating was having to rely on my own phone to read labels on bottles placed on the higher shelves, without any offer of help from the staff or even a simple check to see if I needed assistance. Meanwhile, the employees were mostly talking among themselves. I was also struck by the staff’s lack of knowledge about the products they were selling. At one point, I asked whether the store carried bottles from the distilleries Ben Nevis or Royal Brackla. None of the employees seemed to even recognize these Scotch whisky distilleries. To my surprise, I later found bottles from both distilleries myself, hidden on the shelves in the store. This reflects not only a lack of product knowledge, but also a worrying unfamiliarity with the store’s own inventory. I do not mind paying higher prices when that comes with proper consultation, product expertise, and a genuinely helpful shopping experience. However, charging premium prices while offering no guidance, lacking basic product knowledge, and not even being familiar with the store’s own inventory adds no value to the customer experience. I have visited many specialty spirits stores, and I can easily recognize when there is real passion for what is being sold. Unfortunately, that was not the impression I had here. I found high prices, indifferent service, and staff who seemed far more interested in talking among themselves than assisting customers. It was a frustrating experience and far below what I would expect from a store in this category.

Incredible curated selection of whiskies and an overall great experience. The store picks here are not to be missed because they really know how to pick good ones and get to pick from the cream of the crop. Gene has incredible knowledge and experience, so it is an absolute pleasure to pick his brain. They also have an insane collection of older and rarer items. Prices are decent too, especially considering that you can't just walk into any other store and find the same things. And especially if you're a scotch lover like myself, then you are in for a special treat when you visit.

The best Islay (and whisky in general) collection I have seen in my life!! This is just crazy!!! You can even find bottles that have even been discontinued here. 🤩

Great little shop in the heart of Chicago. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable while helping me select a couple nice bourbon bottles. I'll definitely be making this a regular stop when in Chicago! Highly recommend!

Was in town for a Latin festival with my partner. Unfortunately, the customer service from two of the two girls made the experience uncomfortable. When I asked about shooters, the tall girl with short hair at the register pointed them out but seemed dismissive and uninterested. She didn’t make eye contact, didn’t offer alternatives when they didn’t have what I asked for, and overall came across very cold toward us as customers. She then asked me to move out of the way to help someone else, but she didn’t even say please lacked basic courtesy. The only positive experience was the gentleman working there he was kind, helpful, and gave us a good vodka recommendation after they didn’t have Tito’s. I still made a purchase, but the interaction with the other two girls left me feeling unwelcome. I think customer service and basic friendliness go a long way, especially when people are visiting from out of town.
