Yesterday, I tried to pay using 4 pennies (perfectly legal U.S. tender accepted at virtually all American stores) but the cashier wildly *REFUSED* them! 🤯 He gave me a dirty look instead, said "You cannot pay with pennies." When I pointed out "but you gave me these pennies..." (as change from prev transaction) he still would not budge! So store thinks it's okay to pay customers using pennies, but won't honor them as money (like same thing as paying victims using monopoly money then) Also, on other nights, (same rude) cashier is laughing and chatting w/ Mexican friend for social media selfie videos, forcing customer to wait and wait (as the only person in line!). This even caused me to miss part of an AI researcher's task uploads when I got home, so I got paid less as a direct result of his laziness... Finally, the store regularly tries to hide the $0.75 debit fee, cashier even shamed me for asking about it once before I even presented a debit card (strangely said "you cannot pay? no smokes for you" w/ a very angry Soup Nazi expression, then put all items back on shelf instead of just explaining why the total was inflated). Keep in mind, this is a store I've been loyal to, spending *hundreds* (if not over a thousand) of dollars at since moving nearby last year. Combine this with the fact that no other store in the vincinity even charges debit fees, you can begin to understand how greedy and selfish they are (i .e. if they are treating their most loyal customers like this, imagine how much they are nickel and diming tourists/outsiders) 5/17 EDIT: Also try not to go near closing (~2a) because after mopping the employee opens all the fridge doors for some crazy reason, just wasting electricity for no reason but releasing all the chemical fumes from the floor throughout the store (gives slight headache and probably causes permanent brain damage) and spoiling the perishable goods slightly each time (i.e. minus 2-3 months from expiration dates to compensate for this irresponsible behavior) 5/17 EDIT: Raised to 2 stars because their generic smokes (albeit quite flavorless) are really affordable ($8.52 after tax for Crown 100's, $9 for some other brands). In and out make sure you’re at the right end of the counter or people may think you are trying to cut them in line.
